| Northstar Ski Resort is ideally located 6 miles from Truckee, and 6 miles the other direction to Lake Tahoe. Northstar is a year-round destination resort with the introduction of the new Village at Northstar, as well as plenty of summer activities right there at Northstar. During the summer, there is mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, golf and more, as well as swimming and tennis at the Northstar Property Owner's Recreation Center for property owners and their guests. In the winter, you can ski & snowboard at Northstar, with new areas and new lifts opening every year. The Backside area has seven one mile long runs and acres of tree skiing. Lookout Mountain is one of Northstar's best kept secrets that boasts more advanced terrain. The main area of the mountain is sunny and weather protected, and is an especially great area for families to spend the day together.

One of the many beautiful sights to see as you take the 72 mile drive around Lake Tahoe is Emerald Bay. Climb around the rocks and see impressive waterfalls around the area as well. In the winter, this road is often closed, so if you are going to try to see Emerald Bay this time of year, check that the road is open.
